Glory & Gore Go Hand in Hand

Hello again! It seems these days I'm updating my blog & YouTube channel quite frequently. Glad to starting the year off strong :)

I just wanted to write a post about the little things I've been thinking about recently. I've been listening to a lot of Lorde and reading new fashion blogs, and I have all of this new inspiration flooding in and it's quite hard to organize in my head! I used to do this form of journaling (art journaling, I think??) that just included drawing and painting and cutting out pictures on the pages. I think it's a very accurate way of putting down my thoughts into actuality. Some good examples are here and here. I've noticed it's a huge thing with Rookie. (If you don't know what Rookie is, go look it up NOW. You won't regret it)

I feel that most of my stress from last semester is kind of drifting away, and I've had way more time to focus on my reading and art and general craft-making. Truly my only big worries as of current are hearing back from all of the colleges I've applied (MIT, pls, love me) and AP tests which both aren't until the way future. Other than that all I have to do is maintain decent grades, which isn't hard since all of my classes are pretty interesting.

Senior year is strange. I feel closer yet also distant with all of my classmates. It's almost as if I wonder why I should bother making new friends if I'm just going to say seeya in the next 6 months, but then I realize how rewarding it is every single time. Next week I'm going on this 3 day retreat for my school, so I won't have access to the internet or even a clock. It's like complete isolation. But apparently it's amazing, so we'll see.

Basically, life is pretty great right now. It's easy for me to say I'm happy.

Style Icon: Nancy Sinatra

Since I just uploaded a video with an outfit of mine inspired by Nancy Sinatra, I thought I would do a style inspiration post! It seemed fitting. Nancy Sinatra has always been one of largest fashion inspirations, just like Francoise Hardy. Nancy was another "it" girl of the 60s. Her music is wonderful, and if you haven't heard it I suggest checking out Bang Bang (a cover of a Cher song), Summerwine and Jackson, both of which she did with Lee Hazlewood. Her music and style embody this dream essence of the 60s I try as hard as I can to capture in my outfits.

Her style is often accompanied by mod dresses. knee-high boots, and her voluminous hair.

This image (I apologize for the low resolution) is from the video to Sugar Town. It is by far my favorite Nancy Sinatra song, but it is also one of my favorite music videos of all time. (Even though the song is about LSD!)

Below I have created several outfits that I drew all inspiration from Nancy!

Nancy Sinatra 1

Nancy Sinatra 2

Nancy Sinatra 3

The first and second outfits stay more true to Nancy's style, while the last one moves into a more modern interpretation. Talk to you soon!

Time Machine

A still from my new video.
Hey guys! How has your Monday been so far? I didn't even wake up until 2 today because I couldn't sleep at all last night. I missed school, but a pretty cool video came out of it. The weather here in Chicago has been pretty mild in comparison to the -30 degree temperature from last week, so I've been a little less conservative with my outfits.

I decided to sit down and do some more experimental editing as I was gifted Final Cut Pro X for Christmas. I'll embed the video down below. What do you think of videos like this? They're too much fun to make.

I'll update you again with more pictures in a couple days.
Au revoir for now!

Thoughts on the Fashion Community//Other Ramblings

Hey guys! I feel like I haven't posted in ages. For once I was actually busy with friends! Who knew! I have friends!

Jokes aside, I've been grappling inwardly with this issue for a while, and I decided I want to put it on the forefront before I continue with my "career" in fashion and beauty etc etc etc

Basically, I don't like how things are run on YouTube within the fashion community, and I don't want someone following me and thinking that I'm someone I'm not. This portion of my life is not my only self, and really it's my best self put out there. I just want people to know that, I guess.

Anyway, I have a much more light-hearted post coming up soon! For now, here's a fun fact: when I was filming this video my cat assaulted me. It was not pretty. And I have footage of the whooooooooole thing.

My shoulder still hurts :(

Lately: Up & Coming

Hey guys! How was your New Years!? Isn't it just nuts to think it's already 2014!
Anyway, I thought I'd share some photos of my life lately and what I've been up to, as well as introducing you to some changes I've made/will make for 2014!

First and foremost, I have changed my Etsy shop completely! As of 6 PM Central time, I will have all new vintage items up, as well as a new name! I felt that Wearable Wishes was too juvenile, so I have changed it to Mint Rose Vintage. I think it has a cute ring to it. Check it out at mintrosevintage.etsy.com at 6 PM promptly! (That's Chicago time) Or click the caption in the photo below:

The next part of this update post is that I have a lot of super fun installments planned for this blob! I'm going to take this a little more seriously, and actually post more fashion related things. I haven't done an outfit post in ages, which is not fun because I have some seriously cute dresses to show you guys! I also would love to start reviewing items, so if you have a product you'd like me to review ~honestly~ send me an email at mfoxcontact@gmail.com I'm also planning on doing film and music posts as well as much more photography! I'm really excited for this upcoming year, as school has calmed down and I should be able to dedicate a lot more time to this blog, my YouTube channel, and my Etsy shop. :)

Now down to life stuff! For Christmas my lovely mom bought me the cutest pair of boots you ever did see. I finally got my hands on some Hunter Wellies! Black patent but of course. I have been wearing them nonstop.

The day after Christmas I threw an ugly sweater and it was too much fun. At one point half the party was gathered around the piano rapping Christmas songs while they played them. Now I leave you with some pictures of my beautiful friends!

Asian boyfriends hahaha
And then on New Years a similar group of people got together and it was a good time. Unfortunately I left my phone and my sim card at home so I didn't get very many pictures!! But these are a couple my friends took.

How has your holiday season been!? Can't wait to continue to talk to you this year. But currently, I need to attend to my Lord of the Rings marathon. Talk to you soon,
Megan
